Residents of Windsor-Essex are hoping to break the world record for the largest food drive in history.
Organizers of the ‘June 27th Miracle’ are asking residents of Windsor and Essex County to place non-perishable foodbank donations on their door step.
Between 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. volunteers will go door to door in every urban neighbourhood in the region to collect the donations. Drop-off depots will be set up for rural areas of Essex County.
The goal is for 100 per cent of all residents who can make a food donation to participate. If it can be pulled off, it will truly be a miracle for those in need and for the community as a whole.
A group of community leaders, business owners and residents are volunteering for the food drive, working in collaboration with the Goodfellows and Windsor Essex County Food Bank Association.
“We’re estimating that we will have about 10,000 volunteers.
This initiative will help support local food banks that are seeing a high volume of visitors but have had their fundraising events affected because of COVID-19.
Let’s make Harrow Proud as a giving community.
